ACT has signed a memorandum of agreement with TI Telecomunicazioni & Informatica of Rome Italy establishing a joint venture for the marketing and deployment in Italy of the ACT Cinemage multimedia client/server system, and the ACT NetXchequer subscription and royalty revenue management system.
TI is a subsiduary of Ericsson Telecomunicazioni and an affiliate of Telecom Italia. It is a systems engineering company that provides integrated high-tech hardware and software solutions to the telecommunications and networking industries in Italy.
The purpose of the joint venture is to provide multimedia information services to households and institutions in Italy. In the initial stages of the project, Cinemage image servers will be installed at several prominent Italian museums and will be used to deliver images from the museums' collections for viewing with the Cinemage client software.
ACT is adapting its Cinemage system to meet the requirements of the Italian market, and is assisting with the deployment of the system in Italy. TI will be responsible for day-to-day operations and for marketing.
TI is demonstrating a pilot version of the Cinemage system at a major forum in Rome May 8-10, 1997.
The two partners will share profits from the Joint Venture. In addition,
ACT will receive a royalty based on the gross revenues, as well as royalties
based on per unit sales of ACT software in markets in Italy.
