Welcome to the first ACT Newsletter of 1995. There's been a fair amount of activity since our last Newsletter in October. A first version of the Multimedia Museum Archiving System has been completed and demonstrated. Work is now underway on the Billing Server, which is the next major component of the system. There is considerable Information Highway activity getting underway in Europe. As a result of meetings held over the holiday season some interesting opportunities are opening up for collaboration with European organizations. This also represents a broad new market for our products.
On the industry front CANARIE has received $80 million funding from the federal government and in Vancouver RNet had its official opening in December. Finally the federal Information Highway Advisory Council is working toward wrapping its activities up by mid-year.
